He intends to use his background and knowledge in risk management and online hazards and aim to help the company grow its data and systems shield portfolio, Damballa said Monday.
Bhalotra currently serves as chief operating officer of venture capital-backed cybersecurity company Impermium.
“Sameer has dedicated his career to cybersecurity, leading development of policy and legislation to protect critical infrastructure and government networks, including the first-ever national code of conduct for Internet companies to mitigate botnet infections,” said David Scholtz, Damballa CEO of Damballa.
“I look forward to working with the team to expand their reach,” Bhalotra said.
At the White House, he advised President Barack Obama on cyber programs aimed to protect U.S. commerce and infrastructure.
He also helped with cybersecurity legislation, budgets and the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace.
