IBM to Build Telecom Firm's Mobile Platform

IBM logoIBM has partnered with Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Co. to develop a mobile computing platform intended to help the telecommunication company grow and scale its information technology infrastructure.

VMS is implementing a five-year information technology initiative that aims to help the company respond to customer needs while shoring up revenue and expand overseas, IBM said Friday.

Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Center II, VMS’ subsidiary, will lead the strategy to deploy the mobile cloud infrastructure using IBM’s MobileFirst, SmartCloud and PureSystems offerings.

The company intends to bring promotional advertisements to subscribers of MobiFone, its primary service.

IBM will help VMS install hardware and backup infrastructure and move ti to a cloud environment, aiming to help VMS employees communicate with each other via mobile devices.

The mobile platform is intended to build on IBM’s WebSphere Application Server, Worklight and SmartCloud Provisioning.

IBM’s PureFlex System will act as the core platform, Storwize V7000 storage systems will manage data and TS3200 Tape Library Express will secure data.
