Professor Piyushimita Thakuriah, a specialist on urban transportation, has been appointed to lead research and development studies for future master’s degree courses at a university that a CH2M Hill subsidiary collaborates with.
Thakuriah will aim to explore an interdisciplinary approach that would tackle technologies for the advancement of the sector as the University of Glasgow’s Halcrow chair of transport,, CH2M Hill said Monday.
Donald Bell, CH2M Hill Halcrow client director, said a goal of the partnership is to raise students awareness about career opportunities in engineering.
Thakuriah is forming an urban transportation research group and will work to correlate research findings, surveys and other work that also involves the university’s engineering and urban studies departments, the company says.
The university aims to develop the two master’s courses by the end of this year.
