Prith Banerjee, former chief technology officer at ABB Group, has joined Accenture Plc as managing director of global technology research and development within the firm’s technology group platform.
Banerjee will lead Accenture’s technology labs organization as well as oversee the company’s research for enterprise information technology, Accenture said Wednesday.
Paul Daugherty, Accenture’s chief technology officer, said Banerjee will contribute technology market knowledge and aim to help customers transition to new technologies.
Most recently, Banerjee steered ABB Group’s strategy and technology organization and led more than 8,000 scientists and engineers at seven centers worldwide.
Prior to his role at ABB, he served as Hewlett-Packard’s vice president for research and director of HP Labs organization comprising 500 researchers.
Banerjee also spent more than 20 years in academia, including as dean of the college of engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
He also served as Walter P. Murphy professor and chairman of Northwestern University’s department of electrical and computer engineering.
