General Dynamics IT Sets Up HHS Call Center in Coralville

general dynamics logoGeneral Dynamics Information Technology will set up a call center at its Coralville office in Johnson County, Iowa, that will create around 120 new jobs for the city, Press Citizen reported July 1.

Adam B. Sullivan writes the contract with the Department of Health and Human Services includes both hiring and training of call center technicians.

According to the report, the contact center will handle inquiries regarding private insurance subsidies for the low-income bracket, a provision under the Affordable Care Act of 2010 that begins this year.

The new hires join Coralville’s 600-strong workforce that already has call center experience fielding questions about Medicare and Medicaid services.

“We’ve developed a good bit of trust with them, and it goes both ways,” said General Dynamics IT vice president Mark Meudt, adding, “I think our experience will allow us to make a smooth transition.”
