Hewlett-Packard will sponsor the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation’s awarding ceremony Tuesday in Washington, where children of Marine Corps and Navy personnel will receive more than $6.5 million in educational funding.
This is the third straight year that HP will support the event and the company will donate some of its products to the upcoming students for the academic year 2013-2014, the Foundation said Monday.
The scholarships aim to provide funding for the children of Marines who were killed or wounded in service and lack financial resources.
More than 40 children will attend the announcement ceremony to represent the 2,040 scholarship recipients across the country.
Half of those children are incoming college students and 45 percent are students of STEM fields (science, engineering, technology, and math).
The Scholarship Foundation started in 1962 and has since awarded over $80 million in grants to more than 30,000 children of Marines and Navy soldiers.
