Inmarsat Demos Tactical Satellite Comm Product; Andy Start Comments

inmarsat logoInmarsat Plc recently tested a new satellite communication product on a vehicle running at 70 miles per hour, Satnews Daily reported Wednesday.

The new Lossless Transform Audio Compression service will provide government customers a tactical ultra-high frequency satellite technology that works to help troops communicate through existing radio systems, according to the report.

Andy Start, president of Inmarsat’s global government business, told Satnews Daily the new service aims to help the military coordinate and monitor logistics operations and vehicles traveling long distances.

Users access the service using a small adaptor that works with current tactical radios and provides beyond-line-of-sight communications without extra infrastructure, Satnews Daily reports
