Stonesoft will join McAfee’s network security division with Pat Calhoun serving as lead, McAfee said Tuesday.
All of Stonesoft’s products and technologies will incorporate into McAfee’s Security Connected strategy.
Michael DeCesare, McAfee president, said the Intel subsidiary intends to expand its security portfolio with the acquisition.
Ilkka Hiidenheimo, founder and chief executive officer of Stonesoft, added that McAfee’s Security Connected strategy aims to help customers address the growing landscape of threats against networks and cloud environments.
Market research firm Gartner forecasts the enterprise network security equipment market to grow at a 7-percent compound annual growth rate over the next five years and be worth $11.4 billion by 2017.
