SAP National Security Services (SAP NS2) has agreed to integrate its enterprise management offerings with Esri‘s mapping and geospatial analysis platform under a partnership agreement, InformationWeek reported Tuesday.
Doug Henschen writes Esri is developing a server appliance that would allow customers to run queries on SAP’s Hana in-memory database using Esri’s geographic information system, ArcGIS.
David Jonker, SAP’s head of big data marketing, told InformationWeek that the company expects geospatial technology to become increasingly relevant for businesses that use web, mobile and sensor information.
SAP is set to release new versions of business intelligence software BusinessObjects and data virtualization product Lumira that are designed to support ArcGIS.
Additionally, Esri will unify its technology into SAP’s mobile apps management platform, aiming to help users sync geospatial data with other SAP offerings.
Henschen says SAP has existing geospatial partnerships with Nokia, Google and Tomtom.
