BMC Software has launched a cloud computing-based enterprise app store that the company intends to be accessible via desktop or mobile devices.
The BMC AppZone is intended for enterprise employees to use as a central platform for downloading cloud, mobile, custom and desktop applications, BMC said Tuesday.
“Corporate IT departments are becoming much more focused on enabling big gains in personal productivity and removing ‘IT friction’ from the employee experience,” said Kia Behnia, BMC chief technology officer.
BMC said the app store also aims to capitalize on the rising trends and and address risks involved with bring-your-own-device programs.
The company aimed to base the store on the portfolio of Partnerpedia, a Vancouver-based app and app store developer that BMC acquired (click over to ExecutiveBiz for more information on the transaction).
