Cisco has rolled out a new mobile group communication system that aims to help connect groups of workers with each other through public and private networks.
Instant Connect is a push-to-talk product that uses existing architecture to provide users with a tool to instantly exchange ideas and information, Cisco said Monday.
The technology aims to help project managers to collaborate with groups of 30 people at a time.
According to Cisco, Instant Connect works by having field personnel log into their group and push a button to communicate with their colleagues from any location with network connectivity.
Offsite users connect to the corporate network through a carrier data plan, Cisco says.
Cisco intends for Instant Connect to work in the manufacturing and healthcare sectors, on campus and also be used by enterprise employees.
