Jared Cohon, formerly a Homeland Security Advisory Council member, has joined the Unisys board of directors and its compensation committee.
Cohon is also a director at Ingersoll Rand, Lexmark International and various not-for-profit groups, including the Heinz Endowments and the Health Effects Institute, Unisys said Wednesday.
Ed Coleman, Unisys chairman and CEO, said Cohon will leverage his background in the academe to help drive the company’s board.
He is currently president emeritus and professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where he previously served as president from 1997 until June 2013 and helped to expand its programs in several areas, including in information technology, diversity, international education and economic development.
Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon, Cohon was dean of the Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
Later at Johns Hopkins University, he served as vice provost for research and associate dean of engineering.
