SAP to Start New Mobile Development Education Program; Hasso Plattner Comments

SAP-logo-EbizSAP AG will launch a new open online education program for enterprise mobile developers after more than 40,000 virtual attendees from 158 countries participated in a previous information technology development course.

The company will start the six-week online mobile development course Sept. 9 and intends to build off the SAP HANA IT developer program, SAP announced Thursday.

Participants in the IT development course watched nearly 500,000 video lectures, submitted nearly 70,000 assignments and created 160 private discussion groups with more than 5,500 posts.

“This new form of education in IT is taking off, and the breakthrough for me is the interaction among the students,” said Professor Hasso Plattner, chairman of SAP’s supervisory board.

“We could not have trained that many people in this short period of time through traditional educational courses. The real-time speed of SAP HANA and the lifestyle of the Facebook generation fit perfectly,” Plattner added.

SAP intends for mobile development program students to learn how to support the convergence of mobile devices and applications in the workplace.
