Savvis, has joined the advisory board of a project led by data infrastructure software provider Pivotal that works to provide an open platform-as-a-service offering to the cloud community.
The Century Link subsidiary also signed a community contributor license agreement with Cloud Foundry to help developers and other organizations make cloud-based applications, Pivotal announced Thursday.
Under the CCLA, Savvis will also participate on the Cloud Foundry Dojo program intended to integrate Pivotal’s Cloud Foundry engineering team with Savvis’ AppFog developers.
AppFog is a PaaS provider acquired by CenturyLink in June.
“We see strong interest among our clients for private PaaS solutions and believe that Cloud Foundry offers a unique, open-source solution to meet these requirements,” said Andrew Higginbotham, Savvis chief technology officer.
Pivotal said that IBM has recently joined the Cloud Foundry.
Savvis is also a platinum sponsor of Pivotal’s first Cloud Foundry Conference, scheduled for Sept. 8 and 9 in Santa Clara, Calif.
