Randall Stephenson, AT&T chairman and CEO, will serve chairman of the Business Roundtable, an association of 211 CEOs in the country, starting on Jan. 1, 2014.
Stephenson, who joined the BRT in January 2009, will serve a two-year term and succeed Boeing president and CEO Jim McNerney, BRT said Wednesday.
The BRT’s agenda includes comprehensive tax reform, Social Security and Medicare modernization, energy policy, education and U.S. exports.
We’re entering a crucial time where we have tremendous opportunities to improve our nation’s economy for the long haul,” Stephenson said.
“America’s leading companies have a critical role to play, working in collaboration with the Administration, Congress, our colleagues in small business, and many other stakeholders.”
McNerney will remain a member of the roundtable’s executive committee.
