IBM has finalized the purchase of security software provider Trusteer Ltd. for an undisclosed amount following a definitive agreement signed on Aug. 15.
Trusteer develops and provides software and cloud-based security-as-a-service products designed to help organizations prevent fraudulent activities and other potential threats against virtual networks, IBM said Tuesday.
“The acquisition of Trusteer builds on more than 40 years of IBM’s contribution to the security space,” said Brendan Hannigan, IBM Security Systems general manager.
IBM also intends to build up its portfolio of cyber products that work to operating systems against malware, viruses and suspicious programs that can damage systems, Hannigan added.
The company also plans to build a laboratory in Israel for 200 software developers and researchers from both companies to collaborate on cybersecurity, threat protection and counter-fraud products.
