Unisys to Offer ClearPath Server Users EMC Backup System; Rod Sapp Comments

Unisys-logo EbizUnisys now offers EMC’s Data Domain protection storage systems to users of Unisys’ ClearPath Libra suite of servers.

EMC designs its deduplication storage systems to help users create virtual tape libraries for data backup and recovery of data, Unisys said Tuesday.

Data Domain systems work to compress data through deduplication before they are stored to disk and EMC built the systems to address issues in storage capacity, bandwidth efficiencies, tape handling and other processes.

“The volume of information our clients use for their mission-critical computing tasks is growing exponentially, and they are challenged to store it securely and economically and retrieve it at a moment’s notice,” said Rod Sapp, Unisys vice president for technology solutions.

Unisys said the Data Domain solution for ClearPath Libra systems will be available in six models from Sept. 16.
