The Verizon Foundation has announced it will give $25,000 to help the families of the victims of the recent shooting at the Washington D.C. Navy Yard.
The money will go to The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region which has established two community-wide funds in response to the Navy Yard shooting where 13 people were killed by a lone gunman.
“This tragedy has touched residents throughout the Washington metropolitan area and across the globe,” said Anthony Lewis, Verizon’s mid-Atlantic region vice president of government affairs.
“The victims, their families and friends are in the thoughts and prayers of Verizon employees worldwide,” he added.
The Community Foundation previously managed the $25 million survivor’s fund for September 11, 2001 victims.
