Dr. Mark Hewitt serves as executive vice president and chief strategy officer for QinetiQ North America where he leads strategy formulation, corporate development and strategic investments.
Hewitt joined the company in January 2010 as senior vice president for strategy in the technology solutions group.
Before joining the firm, he served as director of defense and special programs at the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, managing the laboratory’s science and technology portfolio supporting national defense and intelligence missions.
Hewitt also served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for continuity and crisis management and as the special assistant to the assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict.
Following his service in the DoD, he was a visiting scholar at George Washington University’s Center for International Science and Technology Policy.
Hewitt began his career in the Federal service where he led an intelligence analysis unit in the FBI’s National Security Division.
He has also served as a consultant to Rand Corp.
Hewitt holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Utah, an M.S. in Defense and Strategic Studies from Missouri State University and a Ph.D. in Public Policy from George Washington University.
