A General Dynamics subsidiary, Electric Boat, is scheduled to christen the U.S. Navy‘s newest nuclear-attack submarine, the North Dakota, on Nov. 2 .
Vice. Adm. Michael Connor, commander of Submarine Forces, will serve as the event’s principal speaker and Katie Fowler, wife of retired Vice Adm. Jeff Fowler, is the sponsor, General Dynamics Electric Boat announced Tuesday.
The 11th Virginia class ship, the North Dakota will be connected with air, land, sea and space-based assets and equipped with multi-dimensional warfare.
Electric Boat said it worked with Newport News Shipbuilding for the contract.
With 10 delivered submarines on its belt, the companies also have eight additional ships to construct for the Navy.
