Lockheed, Vizrt Build Big Data Visualization Tool; Petter Ole Jakobsen, Matt Kier Comment

BigDataLockheed Martin and Vizrt partnered to develop a big data visualization platform in a move aimed at fulfilling certain requirements of different industries.

Vizrt’s research and development team and Lockheed jointly developed the Multi-Touch Executive Dashboard platform by integrating Lockheed’s data management software and Vizrt’s tools for three-dimensional modeling, animation, graphics creation and visualization, Vizrt said Monday.

MED also contains Microsoft‘s Perceptive Pixel displays.

Lockheed first implemented the MED platform for energy sector customers to view the status of energy resources, distribution and supply by using large volumes of data.

“For MED-E, we’re taking multiple silos of data sources and coalescing them into one final, scalable, big picture visualization representing all these different data layers,” said Petter Ole Jakobsen, Vizrt’s CTO.

Vizrt also designed its Viz Artist software for 3D modeling and animation and the Viz Engine is built for 3D graphics visualization and rendering at high resolutions.

Matt Kier, principal project engineer at Lockheed, said the MED platform also applies to medical imaging, military defense, energy exploration, geo-intelligence, business information systems and supply chain analytics functions.
