SAS and Hortonworks have partnered to extend SAS’ analytics and data management offerings on Apache Hadoop in an effort to help customers manage large volumes of data.
The companies combined their business analytics technologies and data platforms for clients to use in social media, information technology server log, sensors and geolocation data using Hadoop-integrated data architecture, SAS said Friday.
Both companies aim for the new analytics offerings to help organizations increase revenue, boost customer satisfaction and drive brand value.
“SAS provides domain-specific analytics and data management capabilities natively on Hadoop to reduce data movement and take advantage of Hadoop’s distributed computational power,” said Randy Guard, SAS vice president of product management.
SAS designed its offerings to work with Hadoop resources such as MapReduce, Pig and Hive for users to gain insights into analytics, metadata management and security.
SAS and Hortonworks also plan to join forces in marketing, research and development and customer support services.
