All five data centers Savvis operates in the U.K. have been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard, which is given to companies that have reduced their carbon footprints in the country.
Savvis’ data centers in Slough, London and Reading have reduced information technology-related carbon footprints in the U.K. by 10 percent since 2010, Savvis announced Thursday.
“Our finance, facilities and engineering teams worked closely with the Carbon Trust to verify the carbon footprint associated with every aspect of running Savvis’ data centres at each point in the supply chain,” said Mike Bennett, Savvis vice president of global data center acquisition and expansion.
Reviews under the Carbon Trust program include site visits and an evaluation of carbon management practices.
The CenturyLink subsidiary will undergo a Carbon Trust reassessment within the next two years.
