FireEye Inc. has introduced a cloud-based email security offering intended to help customers combat threats.
The FireEye Email Threat Prevention platform works to detect and quarantine emails that contain malware and malicious links, FireEye said Wednesday.
Manish Gupta, FireEye senior vice president of products, said the email security platform is intended to help protect brands, intellectual property and data as email-based attacks continue to grow.
He added that spear-phishing has recently been successful in attacking Email users.
A Verizon Data Investigations Report said Email protection is the most used cloud-based security service and that “more than 95% of all attacks tied to state-affiliated espionage employed phishing.”
The email threat prevention system builds on FireEye’s Multi-Vector Virtual Execution engine architecture and incorporates the company’s multi-threat vector correlation for clients to use the FireEye Web security platform.
FireEye intends to roll out the offering in December 2013.
