A General Dynamics subsidiary has received an $18.2 million contract modification to provide planning yard work for reactor plants of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines.
Electric Boat will also maintain and support moored training vessels docked in Charleston, S.C., General Dynamics said Tuesday.
The contract is worth a total of $121.2 million with options to be exercised and was first awarded in November 2011 for a potential five-year period.
Electric Boat’s engineering and design team will perform a majority of the yard services at Groton, Conn.
More than 4,000 subsidiary staffers provide services for the entire lifecycle of submarines, General Dynamics said.
