Ciber worked with natural gas utility company Alagasco to deploy an online portal that intended to centralize billing services for about 425,000 energy customers.
The information technology consulting company used SAP Utility Customer E-Services program to create a single-login website that is designed to consolidate separate client-based services on one interface and secure transactions, Ciber said Thursday.
David Hutchinson, vice president of sales for SAP-based solutions at Ciber, said the company uses SAP tools to support more than 100 energy utility companies worldwide.
Alagasco intends for the site to help customers pay bills, view billing history, create billing programs and reconnect meters online.
Nearly 3,000 users signed up for the service on the first day and the site processes between 1,200 and 1,500 online payments per day, Ciber said.
