Red Hat builds a range of cloud-based platforms which the company believes could help the U.S. Navy manage applications and servers in a virtualized environment.
The Department of the Navy wants to virtualize server systems across the service by the end of fiscal 2017 with the goal of reducing operational costs and improving architecture performance, according to a Red Hat statement.
According to the company, federal customers already use its technology to support agency missions and address IT modernization requirements.
Red Hat’s virtualization software is designed to interoperate with a variety of platforms and works to secure networks, data and systems.
The portfolio also works to help organizations avoid vendor lock-in by simplifying the process for software configuration, Red Hat says.
