Cisco has introduced a new desktop virtualization platform intended to offer licensing parts, management capabilities and virtual desktops to multiple users.
The DaaS platform is designed to function as either an on-premise tool or a cloud-based service, Cisco said Tuesday.
“Many organizations are looking for ways to achieve the benefits of desktop virtualization without the need to install and maintain equipment or make capital investments,” said Satinder Sethi, vice president of engineering at Cisco.
Sethi said the DaaS offering is meant to help cloud service providers manage rapid deployments and scalability goals.
The platform is built from the company’s Unified Data Center and Unified Computing System in order to secure applications and information and to provide coherent user experience for different devices.
DaaS is also designed to support up to 252 virtual machines on one server, the company says.
