Exelis Partners to Upgrade Intl Coast Guard’s Video Displays; Steve Hill Comments

display systemExelis has selected Cambridge Pixel’s radar and video display software technologies to upgrade Norway’s Coast Guard ships in an effort to reduce specialized hardware content.

Cambridge Pixel supplied its SPx system that worked to transmit and display real-time data in triple-screen consoles, Cambridge Pixel said Thursday.

Steve Hill, senior program manager of Exelis radar, reconnaissance and acoustic systems, said Cambridge Pixel’s software systems helped the company minimize specific hardware content in the upgrade work.

The SPx technology worked to interface with three radar signals and display information with scan converted radar, overlay maps and tracks aboard a coast guard ship.

Three video cameras also transmit data to the consoles through the same Ethernet network.

David Johnson, managing director at Cambridge Pixel, said the SPx system displays data in real time using multi-core processors and graphics processing unit.
