Thales has opened a new regional integration center for ground transportation in Singapore to address demand for signaling and integrated communication and supervision systems.
The new facility will focusing on developing the company’s Seltrac communication-based train control tool as the country aims to expand its rail transit system, Thales announced Tuesday.
A master plan formed by the country’s Land Transport Authority calls for the expansion of the transit system’s reach from nearly 85.7 miles to around 223.7 miles.
“The region is witnessing immense growth and along with it, an increasing need for modern and efficient infrastructure. In order to be close to its customers,” said Ian Woodroofe, Thales Solutions Asia vice president of transportation and security.
“Thales is very happy to announce the creation of this regional integration centre in Singapore to address the specific requirements of the region,” Woodroofe added.
