Thales has won a contract of an undisclosed amount to provide Iraq with technology used to manage air traffic operations.
Iraq’s Civil Aviation Authority selected the Thales TopSky-ATC automation platform and RSM970S surveillance equipment for the country’s airspace system modernization project, Thales said Thursday.
This contract from the Iraqi government would bring the number of Thales-powered ATM centers in that country to 16.
“Iraq is in a vital regional and geographic position and as it comes out of a very difficult period, Thales will be there to support them in building a world class air traffic management network,” said Jean-Marc Alias, vice president for Thales ATM.
Thales also provides radar coverage to the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt and Pakistan.
