BoeingLogo1 EbizBoeing has transmitted a protected government signal through a military satellite by using new anti-jamming technology for a demonstration.

The signal traveled through the company’s sixth Wideband Global SATCOM satellite with ViaSat’s anti-jamming commercial modem during the test on Dec. 15, Boeing said Monday.

“This technology boosts the ability of warfighters to send protected information without enemy data interference by using currently available satellites that do not have anti-jamming technology of their own,” said Craig Cooning, vice president and general manager of Boeing Space & Intelligence Systems.

Boeing also performed a data transmission test over the ViaSat-1 commercial satellite using an existing satellites and terminals in July.

The company plans to evaluate how ViaSat-1 works with other systems in 2014.
