Airbus Defence and Space Unveils New Satellite Comms Offering; Danny Côté Comments

Airbus Group’s defense and space business unit has introduced a fresh satellite communications offering for mining customers.<

The Terralink Companion Quick Deploy 1.2m VSAT system is designed for various communication applications such as email, Internet, file transfer and voice calling through wired and wireless networks, Airbus said Thursday.

Danny Côté, business communications enterprises lead of Airbus Defense and Space, said the new service is intended to help clients gain access to the Internet or virtual private network.

The pay-per-use-based service features back-pack portable antenna and short-notice service activation system.

Terralink Companion QD 1.2m, part of Airbus Defense and Space’s Ku-band satellite services portfolio, can reach up to 1.5megabytes per second of global coverage speed.
