CitrixLogo EbizCitrix has updated its XenMobile enterprise mobility management tool with the goal of helping businesses and agencies manage diverse sets of devices, workforce productivity, security and compliance.

The company said Wednesday that XenMobile 8.7 includes FIPS 140-2 compliant encryption for mobile apps, one-click access to communication and collaboration apps such as WorxMail, support for email and collaboration products and operating systems such as Apple iOS 7.1 and Microsoft Windows 8.1.

Tom Simmons, area vice president for the U.S. public sector at Citrix, government IT units have worked to address demand for mobility by adopting bring-your-own-device programs or issuing official devices.

“By embracing these mobility trends, agencies can improve employee productivity and job satisfaction while taking advantage of the latest in device and service-provider technologies,” he said.

Additional XenMobile updates include support for Microsoft Lync online meetings and IBM Lotus Notes, the WorxWeb app for single sign-on access to SharePoint sites and VPN support for Amazon Kindle.

The EMM software update will be available for download within this month.
