NavyShipL-3 CommunicationsMAPPS will build subsystems for Canadian navy crews to manage propulsion, electrical and auxiliary equipment on patrol vessels under a subcontract awarded by Lockheed Martin.

Lockheed is a primary supplier for Canada’s arctic and offshore patrol ships fleet and has picked L-3 MAPPS to support design work on the fleet’s integrated platform management system, L-3 MAPPS said Thursday.

“Further to our ongoing successful implementation of the Halifax-class frigates IPMS upgrade, we are very pleased to be selected for this new and very important Royal Canadian Navy project,” Rangesh Kasturi, L-3 MAPPS vice president of marketing and sales.

The IPMS architecture is designed to monitor on-board training, damage control, equipment health monitoring and closed circuit television systems.

L-3 MAPPS says the technology also works to integrate with maritime navigation and combat management platforms.
