Raytheon logo_EbizRaytheon has built a new test cell at the company’s Redstone Arsenal, Ala. facility and increased the capacity of the missile testing and integration center by 30 percent, AL.com reported Thursday.

This project follows the construction of a 42,000-square-foot office building in 2013 and adds to the facility’s 70,000-square-foot area, Leada Gore writes.

Raytheon builds Standard Missile-3 and SM-6 weapons at Redstone.

The company sold the first SM-6 interceptor to the U.S. Navy in February 2013 and an SM-3 sale was closed in May, Gore reports.

SM-6 weapons are designed as anti-air warfare missiles, while the SM-3 is a component of the Missile Defense Agency‘s Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense system.
