Verizon joins The Linux Foundation as a gold member to help further the organization’s work on open cloud and virtualization technologies, the foundation announced Wednesday.

“Linux, open cloud and open virtualization technologies support innovation in the market, and The Linux Foundation offers a neutral venue where we can help advance this work,” said Kevin Clarke, Verizon director of cloud platform engineering.

The partnership was announced during the Linux Foundation Collaboration Summit.

Other member companies of the foundation include China Mobile, Cisco, Citrix, ETRI, Google, Hitachi, Huawei, NetApp, NYSE Technologies, Panasonic, SUSE and Toyota.
