Hughes Network Systems will provide its HX broadband satellite system to manage Kazakhstan’s national digital terrestrial television network, which is operated by Kazteleradio.
Hughes said Tuesday that it will install more than 800 contract HX260 mesh terminals at DVB-T2 Standard television towers across the country for Kazakhstan’s national broadcasting operator.
“It represents one of the largest mesh TDMA networks deployed anywhere, supporting a very high level of robust operation and reliability for Kazteleradio’s newly implemented digital terrestrial television system,” said Arunas Slekys, vice president and general manager for the Russia/CIS regions at Hughes.
Hughes will operate two redundant HX gateways in Almaty and Astana in Kazakhstan and use the broadband terminals for voice, data and video connectivity to monitor all transmissions.
