NY subwayA team made-up of Siemens and Thales has won a potential two-year, $75 million contract to build and install control and command technologies for a high-speed rail project in Spain.

Adif picked Siemens and Thales to develop signalling, train protection, video surveillance, telecommunications and centralized traffic management systems for the Spanish operator to manage the Pajares Diversion railway route, Thales said Friday.

The Pajares Diversion encompasses 50 kilometers of high-speed passenger rail track designed to link central and northern Spain, according to Thales.

Siemens will supply an automatic braking and signal announcement system while Thales will contribute a rail traffic management system to the project.

Thales and Siemens’ consortium works with railway operators to secure passengers, cargo and rolling stock.
