Boeing is set to expand its fuel efficiency solutions offering through an acquisition of fuel-efficiency management and analytics software provider ETS Aviation, which serves at least 120 airlines and corporate flight agencies around the world.
Boeing said Friday it expects to complete the transaction this quarter, after which the company will integrate ETS Aviation’s fuel efficiency tools into its Boeing Edge suite of aviation services.
“With fuel costs accounting for as much as 40 percent of airline operating costs, reducing fuel consumption enables airlines to be more successful while reducing emissions,” said Stan Deal, senior vice president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ Commercial Aviation Services, noting the expected result of operating and environmental efficiencies.
Bristol, U.K.-based employees of ETS Aviation will become part of Boeing’s Jeppesen UK subsidiary after the acquisition deal is closed.
