HP logoHewlett Packard has introduced a facility-as-a-service offering to to help organizations build data centers on site.

The FaaS offering works to use a modular design framework and the company also aims to help enterprise clients to manage their information technology systems, HP said Friday.

“Previously, organizations determining their data center sourcing strategy had a number of options, but each had its difficulties,” said Rick Einhorn, HP vice president of technology services data center consulting.

“Now with HP Facility-as-a-Service, a new option is available that enables an organization’s CFO to switch costs from a capital to an operating expense, and provides the CIO with their own operated data center which has the flexibility to expand as the business grows,” Einhorn added.

Through the program, HP seeks to deliver customized data center resources to clients under a five-year rolling service agreement.

HP says the client company would maintain the modular facility and bring in technology as needed.
