US Coast Guard cutterHuntington Ingalls Industries has awarded Lockheed Martin a $69 million subcontract to provide a C4ISR system for the U.S. Coast Guard‘s USCGC Kimball, the seventh vessel in the agency’s National Security Cutter fleet.

Lockheed said Wednesday it has also supplied the C4ISR system for the six previous NSCs to help users gather and exchange maritime data, detect potential sea threats and facilitate collaboration with other Coast Guard assets.

“The NSC’s C4ISR system is critical to ensuring the USCG can support the nation’s maritime strategy,” said Joe Buss, program director of Lockheed’s Coast Guard and mission control systems business.

The NSC fleet supports marine safety, law enforcement, environmental protection, homeland security and national defense operations for the Coast Guard.
