Inmarsat said Monday that it expects the Global Xpress system to enter full global operations during the first half of 2015.

“We are proud that Global Xpress has been selected to meet some of the United States government’s most critical needs and pleased to already have them online and operational,” said Peter Hadinger, president of Inmarsat’s U.S. government business unit.

U.S. government agencies evaluated the Inmarsat-5 GX satellite as the company tested the satellite’s commercial uses.
