RobStrainDigitalGlobe and Ball Aerospace executives have discussed with Commerce Department Secretary Penny Pritzker the issues of an aerospace workforce and commercial satellite imagery regulations during a roundtable in Denver, Colorado.

DigitalGlobe CEO Jeffrey Tarr and Ball Aerospace CEO Robert Strain also updated Sec. Pritzker on how the WorldView-3 satellite could work to meet various demands, DigitalGlobe said Wednesday.

“Hosting Secretary Pritzker in our home state was a proud moment for DigitalGlobe, and we truly appreciate her leadership of the U.S. Department of Commerce,” Tarr said.

“The change in imagery restrictions is timely with the approaching launch this summer of WorldView-3, which Ball built for DigitalGlobe,” Strain said.

The WorldView-3 satellite, scheduled for launch in August, is designed with a 0.31 m resolution.

Ball Aerospace worked with Exelis, United Launch Alliance and Lockheed Martin‘s commercial launch services to develop the spacecraft for DigitalGlobe.
