prete-bioTom Prete, vice president of engineering at United Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney subsidiary, has been inducted into the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering.

The academy recognized Tom Prete for his work in the development of Pratt & Whitney‘s aircraft engines and for his contributions to gas turbine propulsion systems, Pratt & Whitney said Wednesday.

“It is an honor to be invited into the Academy and join a notable list of scientists and engineers,” Prete said.

The academy selects its members based on scientific and engineering achievements through publications, patents, new technologies developed, technical team leadership and professional awards.

Peter Smith, vice president of engineering at UTC aerospace systems, Eric Amis, director of UTRC physical sciences department and Meredith Colket, UTRC senior fellow for combustion, also received recognition from the academy.
