northrop-Grumman_BLUENorthrop Grumman has completed its work to manufacture the fuselage for NATO’s Alliance Ground Surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle and is sending the fuselage to a plant in Palmdale, California for the final stages of production.

In a notice posted July 28, NATO said the overall AGS Core system will have both ground and air segments.

For the air segment, Northrop will provide five Global Hawk Block 40 UAVs that are equipped with ground surveillance radar sensors and wideband data links.

Those UAVs will be connected to the flight control stations at Sigonella Air Base in Italy, NATO says.

NATO says the ground segment will connect the AGS Core system to command, control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems for the transmission, processing and exploitation of collected data.
