Cloud securityA Forrester Consulting study says that three organizations have achieved a lower cost of technology ownership from implementing an Oracle database software in conjunction with a Verizon cloud platform.

George Koroneos, an online media manager at Verizon Enterprise Solutions, wrote Thursday the Verizon-commissioned research sought to analyze how subscription-based licensing of Oracle Database on Verizon Cloud could help enterprises save money.

Verizon and Oracle launched the offering with the goal of reducing the time and cost needed for businesses to develop customized mobile applications.

“The pay-as-you-go model mean that companies do not have to invest in capital equipment for their databases, and have lower upfront costs,” Koroneos stated.

He added the service is intended to help app developers to eschew conventional technology procurement and testing cycles.

The combined Oracle-Verizon offering also aims to help businesses improve internal resource allocation, reduce technology provisioning time and accelerate product commercialization, according to Koroneos.
