Airbus‘ defense and space division has won a contract of an undisclosed value to manufacture a communications satellite for satcom operators EchoStar and SES.
The EchoStar 105/SES-11 satellite will have Ku- and C-band hardware and offer coverage throughout the Americas, Airbus Group said Thursday.
EchoStar and SES plan to launch the satcom by the end of 2016.
Airbus says the satcom will be designed with 24 C-band radio transponders and an end-of-life power of approximately 12 kilowatts.
EchoStar 105/SES-11 is the 6th satellite under a partnership agreement between the two operators and the 48th to be based on the Eurostar E3000 model, according to Airbus.
