Cubic logoCubic Transportation Systems moved to build its smart cities product portfolio with a licensing deal with Australia’s SenSen Networks, maker of video business analytics solutions.

Cubic said Monday the alliance allows it to line up SenSen’s array of intelligent transport systems as part of offerings under the San Diego firm’s NextCity Vision initiative.

These include toll, rail, transit, parking and traffic management tools and related products and services that are intended to streamline, secure and expand transport operations for cities and citizens.

“The agreement with SenSen is a good strategic fit for our NextCity vision [because] …advanced video analytics allows our customers to cost-effectively gain deep insights of transportation infrastructure improving decision making, safety and long-term planning,” said Matt Cole, executive vice president for strategy, business development and diversification at Cubic Transportation Systems.

According to SenSen Networks CEO Subhash Challa, the company relies on big data, sensor and business intelligence technology to come up with analytics solutions that provide actionable insights for its customers.
