Bae-systems-logo_ExecutiveBiz1BAE Systems has rolled out updates to the Royal Air Force’s fighter aircraft, bringing the fleet into operational service.

The company said Friday it upgraded the Typhoon fighter’s computing power, weapons systems integration and sensor suites to help RAF achieve its air-to-air and air-to-surface mission requirements.

“We have delivered a capability with all the necessary training and support to make sure it is ready and usable from day one,” said Martin Taylor, director for combat air at BAE Systems.

BAE Systems collaborated with its Eurofighter partner companies, the RAF and UK Defense Ministry to develop the updates.

The company also refreshed the aircraft’s defensive aids subsystem and the interoperability for the multifunction information and distribution systems.
